The T-bird is gone

I finally did it. The car of my life and bane of my existance is now out of my hands. The tow truck came on Sunday to take the ol' girl to town.

Before you light the torches and file the pitchforks wait a moment. I didn't sell the car. I didn't send it off to the crusher (which if I ever did, this would be the last lot to hear about it after the last fiasco). I put her in storage, for the first time. Sitting on a dirt floor and sandwitched between RV's and fifth-wheels. I managed to get my car in the barns at the exhibition grounds, because where it was the grass was growing up underneath, and we all know what that means. $200 CAD stores the car from Nov. 5th to May 6th. The only problem is it's a six month commitment. At least I got to drive it into the barn. (I only towed it because that costs $40, as opposed to inspecting, insuring and registering the thing for a 20 minute drive). And it purrs like a......... really big kitten.

So this way I get to save up some money to get the body done by a proffesional. (yeah right. The road to hell...........)

*Puts down pitchfork* Well that is good, at least it will be safe, or maybe not. But still at least it is not in car heaven or the hands of a young ricer punk...

Well at least you are holding onto it for now.  It's good to get them out of sight and out of mind for a while every so often but still be able to come back to them when you're ready.

Glad to hear you've still got plans for it.  Too many people giving up lately.  And no, I am NOT referring to the infamous 'claw' thread.

I decided giving up wasn't the right move, since no one around here knows it's even a T-bird. The tow guy thought it was a mustang. The only people interested in buying cars like this around here are punks who would either destroy the car or tear it apart to slap the turbo on a civic. Even if I was just trying to convince myself to sell it, knowing I wouldn't, I'm just glad it's not going to be sitting in snow. :)

I can think of at least one person "around there" that wouldn't cut it up :beatyoass: I was just about to head north and east on a witch hunt until I saw you kept it...

Seriously how blind do you have to be to mistake a Thunderbird for a Mustang?  I mean they don't even have the same emblems on them or even the same body lines.  They're not even the same size.  People are stupid.

I once went on a cruise set up by the Edmonton Thunderbird Club and the Alberta Mustang Owners Association (Mustang/T-bird exclusive event). When we arrived at the destination to line them up for a show, I was directed to park with the 'rest of the Mustangs' by the guy at the gate. He's staring down the nose of a car with a chrome bird on the nose. Then while I'm parking, another guy comes running after me to tell me I parked in the wrong section. It seems even classic T-bird guys can't tell the diference.
