'87 Buick LeSabre T-Type October 30, 2006, 10:21:16 AM I thought this was cool enough for its own thread.I do advertising for 12 auto dealerships across the state. As a result, I see lots of average cars and very few rare cars. Here is a local car that caught my eye. If I had the room and money, I would actually consider getting it. It has 72k original miles.I guess they made less than 5,000 of them in 1987. Quote Selected
'87 Buick LeSabre T-Type Reply #1 – October 30, 2006, 10:42:44 AM I came extremely close to owning a black one before. Nice cars. Quote Selected
'87 Buick LeSabre T-Type Reply #2 – October 30, 2006, 02:13:40 PM What makes it so different? Quote Selected
'87 Buick LeSabre T-Type Reply #3 – October 30, 2006, 02:49:15 PM Look at it!First, it's a coupe. Most, if not all LeSabres, were sedans. It has a complete ground effects package from the factory, special wheels, blacked-out trim, etc.It also has sport bucket seats with a center console, a floor shifter, a special dash, etc. It was created in the wake of the Grand National/GNX program.I think of it like a 20th Anny cat with us. '87 Buick LeSabre T-Type Reply #4 – October 30, 2006, 02:51:36 PM It looks as if it's built off of the same chassis as the Cavalier..?Looks neat, but I don't dig the wheels. Quote Selected
'87 Buick LeSabre T-Type Reply #5 – October 30, 2006, 05:19:46 PM I believe it's built off the A-body (Celebrity/6000/LeSabre/Calais). Two door versions are quite rare indeed. I've always wondered if the tranny in one of those would hold up to a boosted 3.8 - kinda make it a real T-Type... Quote Selected

In a word: NO. I got a friend that works for Intense racing making performance parts for the GM 3.8s. Their biggest downfall right now is that they cant make an input shaft strong enough to handle any real power. And that's with a newer transaxle that was designed for the Bonnie SSE. You see GM had this brilliant idea of runng a pump shaft inside the input shaft, thus limiting how much you can strengthen the input. I keep trying to tell them to quit with the front spinners and work with some real cars. Quote Selected

But with different rims I guess it could be cool, unless it's front wheel drive. Then I'd rather have a SHO. Quote Selected
'87 Buick LeSabre T-Type Reply #10 – October 31, 2006, 04:44:44 PM I appreciate the rarity of it, but I'd rather have a real turbo T-Type Regal. Quote Selected
'87 Buick LeSabre T-Type Reply #11 – October 31, 2006, 04:48:42 PM I used to have a 1993 Lumina Euro 3.4 4 door. I was told that that was a rare car because the 3.4's only came in the Z34's. My dad ended up wreaking it on a snowy day. Anyone else own any forgotten " rare" cars? Quote Selected
'87 Buick LeSabre T-Type Reply #12 – October 31, 2006, 05:13:56 PM My old man inherited my grandfathers 92 Oldsmobile Trofeo when he passed away a few years ago... the car only has 28k miles or so on it! That car has more bells and whistles in it than you can shake a stick at, its rather impressive actually. The car has been sitting in the heated barn with the cover on it since he got it 3 years ago and it hasn't moved an inch. The old man said he's never selling it:grinno: I guess it will be mine someday....what the hell am i going to do with it 20-25 years from now:dunno: Quote Selected
