Rear map lights...when do they come on? October 09, 2006, 12:12:09 AM I was messing with my rear speakers last night and noticed that my rear reading lights actually work, but only when I push the button on the console (LIGHTS button) with the key on. For some reason I thought those lights were always on when a door was open, like the other interior lights. This car's been with me for so long I'm starting to forget stuff about it. Help!!! Reply #3 – October 09, 2006, 10:25:26 AM MN-12 cars have them come on when you open the door or turn the headlight dimmer switch to turn the dome light on.Now my 88 will only have them on with the key on and pressing they button.The 83 they will come on regardless of the key.
