Lower a seat.

I have a 87 turbocoupe with sunroof and power seats. I am 6'1" and I hate the sunroof. Has anyone moddifed there seat frame to have the seat go 1"-2" lower????Will I have to swap to a manual seat track??? I hate having to keep my head pen 15ed to one side while I drive then hit it on the edge of the headlinner opening when I hit a bump. Now I do have the seat leaned back but it makes it hard to shift.I just want to sit upright in my ride.
Thanx

manual seat track might be lower, so may a stock foxbody mustang seat track. somebody posted a picture of a conversion for the fox mustang seat track, but im not sure how much, if any lower it is than a power seat version for our cars. i know what you mean tho... sitting in my car after riding in a friends mn-12 i feel like im driving a truck lol. even with my car being lowered, it still feels like i sit up about 2 or more inches higher.

Yep, a Fox Mustang/Capri seat track won't fit Tbirds/Cougars, lol.
I'll have to look up how to modify one.
I'd think that manual seat tracks might be a smidge lower, seems like sitting in my pass. side feel a wee bit lower, maybe.
I'm not quite 6 feet tall, I know whatya mean about head room, or rather, lack thereof. I'm sure EricCoolCats may have an idea on this.
Kinda makes me wonder in a seat out of like, say, a Tempo, or Topaz, or something, bolted to the Tbird/Cougar tracks would be lower.

I'm about 6'1" as well. I haven't had problems in my car. Although I do have the seat adjusted almost as low as it goes. It seems too that if you tilt the front of the seat up a little, it allows you to lay back slightly while still sitting straight up. That gives a wee bit more head clearence. I'm sure you've been through every combo though.

You can always lower the bases on the tracks.  It may be easier to do on the manual sliders however.

I've done it a couple times, but does require a welder.  Basically all that was done was to section the risers for the bases and weld them back up.  You'll get no more than an 1" though.

Well an inch maybe all I need. I have tryed the front up back down.Just makes it more fun at the pedals.I drove a 87 with no sunroof and had lots of room. The roof in this car is factory power and seems to drop 3/4" - 1" in the roof. I just don't feel comfortable while driving with the seat leaned back so I am looking out the rear quarter window(well not really but close).
I looked at the track at the front and rear of the seat. The lower portion look like it is a flatbar from the front to rear. I don't know what a manual t-bird or cougar track will look like.
