(SOLD) 1986 T-bird for sale in southwest Florida August 16, 2006, 06:51:39 PM EDIT: Car has been sold. Thanks for reading.Well the time has come. I have to make space in the yard to try and get a better car for my fiance to drive to work until she can find one of her own. The T-bird just needs too much work for me to handle right now in my condition. I could just sell it for s or part it out, but I'd like to see it go to someone who appreciates these cars.. and with an engine swap and some front suspension work, someone could use it for a racer or whatever. (in other words, work you'd probably already be doing to one of these cars anyway)It has 169k miles on it. It's a base-model with the V6 and AOD. Single power seat, (works) power windows, (both work, but are a little sticky) power door locks, (one does not lock anymore) cruise, (works) power mirrors, (works) and the A/C works but leaks. The V6 has apparently started to blow a head gasket, but the engine still runs. The AOD worked fine before it was parked. The interior is in pretty good shape. As far as rust goes, this was a northern car for some of its life, but the original owner (I'm the second owner) had the underside rust-treated, so most of the car is in decent shape rust-wise. The major rust spots are the bottoms of the doors. The front suspension is pretty much shot.. it bounces quite a bit.. but as I said earlier, if you're going to tear one of these up for racing or whatever, you'd probably trash that anyway. It may just need struts and ball joints. One other note: My fiance accidentally ripped much of the original exhaust off of the car, so we had to fab up a 2.5" single exhaust that dumps out before the right rear wheel, with a single cheap turbo ler on it. It's loud but not insanely loud. The worst part is that the exhaust hangs very low and can se on speedbumps and coming in and out of my driveway. If you live in a state with emissions laws, you would need to replace this. I have the original pipe that goes over the axle, but it is cut into two pieces. I'll throw them in and you may be able to fab up something with it.I have some pics of it, but they're on my laptop so I'll update this thread later with them.Price? Well, I realize it's not worth much in its present condition.. but I'm horrible with putting prices on things. I'll have to figure out a starting price to ask when I update this thread later.I'm also selling a 1987 351W out of a van. It's something I got as part of the trade. I'm told that the short block had to be replaced at some point in the late 90s, and that the engine only has 6,000 miles on it since that rebuild. I implicitly trust the friend that told me as he's honest to a fault.. but it's possible he got bad info from the guy he got it from. At any rate, as a van engine it's pretty dirty.. and it's been sitting for a couple years now.. but I'll have it in my screen room tomorrow and can add some pictures then.I may also list my '88 T-bird shortly, as well as some of the parts from my '88 LSC.. I don't know.. I REALLY need money. I have an opportunity to jump on in the next 5 days that I really shouldn't pass up.. but one or more of these HAS to go, and soon.I am in Port Charlotte, FL. 90 miles south of Tampa. I'll fill in more details later. I just wanted to get this up quickly.EDIT: BTW, please don't ask me to part it out. I NEED space opened up in the front yard, badly. I need one of these cars to go away immediately. I also have another car to part out, my '88 LSC.. and I'm in a lot of pain these days, and it's hard to do anything physical. I just can't handle parting out two or three cars right now. Sorry. Quote Selected

(SOLD) 1986 T-bird for sale in southwest Florida Reply #5 – August 17, 2006, 12:29:51 AM Man, I really hate putting prices on stuff I sell. I'm always concerned I'm going to make some huge screw-up and charge way too much or way too little. But I have to do it.Try not to laugh too hard, but I'm going to say I'd like to get somewhere around $500 for the 4-eyed T-bird, and that I'd like to start somewhere around $400 for the 351W. Prices are negotiable, of course.. but I'd like to get as much as I can out of this since I'm still unemployed and haven't yet applied for disability. (there's also a C6 with a Windsor bellhousing bolt pattern available, if you'd like to get the engine and a beefy slushbox to go with it. I can find out what my friend wants for it. It was the transmission that went with the 351 in the van) Quote Selected
(SOLD) 1986 T-bird for sale in southwest Florida Reply #6 – August 18, 2006, 04:00:50 PM I'll be out of town on vacation from Saturday afternoon to some time Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Our laptop just died, so I won't be able to go online from where I'll be staying unless I were to lug my desktop computer along. (which won't be happening) So if you should happen to post something here and I don't respond for awhile, that's why. Although, where I'm staying isn't an unreasonable distance from home, so I may pop in once during that time to check messages. Quote Selected

(SOLD) 1986 T-bird for sale in southwest Florida Reply #8 – September 02, 2006, 04:42:18 PM A bump and an update: Been kicking this around in my head for awhile, and things are improving around here financially, so I may persuade myself to attempt to fix the head gasket on this, if it's more likely to get it sold. We have another car on the way this week (not mine or my fiance's) and we need to get rid of at least 2 of the current cars. Quote Selected
(SOLD) 1986 T-bird for sale in southwest Florida Reply #9 – September 06, 2006, 06:14:45 PM Still-need-to-unload-it-bump.I don't care if someone's gonna use it as a parts car or whatever. Just as long as I don't have to part it out when I already have one car I have to part out, and three others I have to fix. Quote Selected
(SOLD) 1986 T-bird for sale in southwest Florida Reply #10 – September 10, 2006, 05:02:56 PM Well, if no one wants to save a mostly rust-free body, I guess it may have to be either sped or sold to someone outside the board. I really can't afford to have this car sitting around much longer.. no telling when the county will be breathing down our necks for having three unlicensed cars. (we're allowed one) I simply don't have the energy to part out multiple cars at the same time. Quote Selected

(SOLD) 1986 T-bird for sale in southwest Florida Reply #12 – September 13, 2006, 06:10:21 PM Probably not without many stops for water, as it sits now.I can always try to put a head gasket in it one of these weekends with a bit of help, but we'll only be in town until the 27th when we leave for Chicago.
