Motorsport G springs?

I am not a suspension expert, but I need to lower my car to get my camber back in shape without using C/C plates.  Someone please check out this link, and tell me what springs are closest to what I need.  http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=2982  I think I need the G springs, but I am not 100% sure.  I think we are supposed to use '94 and up 'vert springs.  Anyway, car is an '88 Tbird sport.  I was thinking about the C springs, 'cause they are way cheaper, but then again, the spring rate is so high I am afraid it would ride too much like a truck or a race car, I only want a lowered ride witha  little firmer handleing.  Sorry 'bout the long post.:birdsmily:

I use C-Kits all the time in the front, but they are WAY too light for use on the rears of these cars....

I know there is a thread or two that already covers this....

Hmm...  well, the G kit has 170/310 rears, and the C kit has 200/300 rears.  I was looking at the G because Chuck says use SN95 Convertable springs.  Are you meaning stock springs, or lowering springs?  Main thing is that I want to lower the car slightly anyway, and right now I have positive camber with the shocks all the way toward the engine, and I think if I lower it slightly, then my front alignment will get back into the proper shape without having to buy C/C plates right now.

Those numbers are the spring rates not the load rating of the springs, which is different.  The load rating of the C-kit rears is LIGHT.

I say to use the SN-95 vert rears because they are the closest in load rating to the Tbird/Cougar ones.  I've only used stock SN-95 rear springs, because they are a little shorter to begin with and I also relocate control arm points...this dropping the back some more as well.
Find the thread that discusses the springs and has the pics etc.....I don't like the any of the other Motorsport springs aside from the C-kit fronts.  The spring rates on the rest are too light for my tastes.

Oh, like I said, I am no supension guru, nor a fabricator by any means, so I am just trying to make things straiten back out.  Basically, I have no idea what the diff is between spring rate and load rate, I do appreciate your time though.  I will try and find the spring thread you are talking about, but I am not very good at using the search function for some reason.

I thought the whole point of that thread was to squash all this... I don't know how many times I gotta answer the Bullitt Suspension question. =/

Well, the Motorsport D and E springs must be all gone, 'cause I have searched most of the motorsport dealers in the country, with no luck.  Anyone happen to know the spring rates of that kit, or the stock spring rate of the Tbird Sport springs?  Now I am thinking about the B or C kit, 'cause I think a 1.2" kit for a mustang would be much too low on these cars than what I am looking for.  I only want to go down about an inch, without rifing like a truck, its just going to be a daily driver, no track days.  Chuck, you said that the C kit was too light for the rear of our cars, would sitffer shocks in the rear help that situation?

No.....the shocks have nothing to do with the load rating of the springs.

The D&E kits have been discontinued for 5 years or so.

Oh, I am still not sure what load rating means, but from the way you sound, the C springs are too light and will make the rear end sag too much, or will they make the rear end bounce too much after hitting a bump or dip in the road?

The load rating is just what it sounds like...how much weight the spring can support.  The C-kit rear springs have a load rating that is at least 150-200# LIGHTER (I don't have the numbers in front of me at the moment) than the stock springs...that is per spring...  For some reason a rating 585# comes to mind though  for the C-kits and the stock Tbird/Cougars are closer to 900+#.... So you can see the lessened load capacity.  The SN-95 rear springs are in the 700-800# range.

Shocks are what will dampen/control the bounce...the only way a spring will affect that is if it's far too much spring rate for that particular damper.

Wow!  That's a pretty big difference, definately 'cause we have more weight out back.....

Hell with it man, the '96 Stang wheels I am in the process of converting to fill the wheel wells pretty well, so I think I am going to just keep my Sport suspension, and add the Maximum Motorsports C/C plates to straiten out my camber.  Too much work to find the proper aftermarket lowering springs.
