AOD delay

1989 mark7 lsc when you take it from P or N to D, there is about a 2second or so delay untill you feel the tranny pop into gear. it does it with reverse too. any ideas? im thinking hopefully clogged filter, but maybe sticky valve body, or line pressure issue? its got about 125k on it, my sports AOD with 145k shifted rite into gear and felt different than this, maybe its just me?

I get a whiplash neck from mine.
Put it in drive hit the gas and nothing happens.
Suddenly whip and my head is thrown back.
I had a preped TH350 in my chevy which did what you told it when you told it to.
New filter flushed system no help.
BobNorway;)
There are only two tools you will ever need:
1) WD40
2) Duct Tape
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

I'd try the cheapest/easiest thing, the filter, first. Hell even if the filter isn't it atleast you have a clean filter;) . The AOD in my Bird will go right into gear when I shift it from P to D. There should be little to no delay.

U-joints.  Maybe the driveshaft yoke.
