Long tube header install secrets

I want to install long tube headers from summit (I believe there the same as flowtech). I was wondering how you guys dropped them in from the top or from the bottom. And any secret moves or get anything out of the way first. Then I have a BBK X-pipe non-cat longtube specific. That should bolt right up.
Thank you in advance I’m sure your advice will probably save me time.

I dropped mine in from the top. I had to raise the engine to get them in there though. I think I also had to remove the steering shaft too.

Will long tube fit with an AOD trans?  I heard the tranny linkage hits.  Column shift, '83 T-Bird?  Thanks,  Fred

There not Flowtech there summits headers but we all no summit don’t make headers. Now as for being a bad header if I new how to put a pic on this site id show you there actually really nice. I was told by a few people that holly makes the headers, there all the same, Flowtech being the cheaper ones and company’s like hooker being more expressive yes hooker supposable there the same. But I don’t now this for a fact.

Anyway back to the point I’m just looking for advice on how to install them. I’m sure there guys her that did this and I have a floor shifter so trany linkage should not be a problem, I hope.

And Ether947 thank you sound like your probably right on.

Flowtech is a brand of Holley and the Summit headers are re-labeled Flowtech pieces. Everybody has their opinions about products dood, just buy what you want. I have bought a couple of Flowtech parts and I was pleased with them.

But I suppose I should add that my trans was not an AOD. It was a 164T C4.

I’m reading some stang pages and a lot of them are saying to change the starter while I’m there because the header will be in the way if I have to change it in the future. They also recommend putting in a mini starter I guess to keep it away from the heat of the headers and if it has to be changed it will be easier w/out removing the header.
Anyone know where to buy a mini starter I’m assuming you cant order it at the local parts store.

summit longtube pic. only problem is they are not one peice like the hooker headers and others. but the slip tube would make an install ez. but pr0ne to a leaking sounding exhaust will be my guess.

innes go to summit.com you can read/print out the directions to install the headers.
trick flow street heat intake , 24lbs injetors, ported GT-40's (Chip) long tube headers. and a Performance Automatic C4, with a hurst shifter!
