Wheel fit issues with 99+ spindles

I have an 87 cougar that I put 99 Mustang spindles on and I'm having issues with wheel fit . I purchased 17x9 Bullitt wheels (+24mm offset 5.95 in. backspace) and they stuck out 1-1.5"without tires on them . Can someone who has done this swap tell me what wheels they used?

the '96 and up spindles move the wheel out further than '94-'95 spindles do. But as you've discovered, you'll need wheels with different backspace. Sadly, I don't have that info...

Should be the 6.42" backspacing IIRC.

Is that what you used? Love the sidepipes by the way .

Yes, that's the backspacing I have. I used 1996+ Mustang spindles but also have a bump steer kit, Steeda X2 ball joints, and caster/camber plates. You kinda have to use a combo like that for 96+ spindles because the geometry gets to be a mess if you don't.

you could put the shorter 86 down control arms in.  That would get 3/4" each side, but if you don't do offset arms, you will have caster issues.  I could only get 1* caster with that setup on stock 86 arms in my 88 bird.  I just went to 3/4" forward offset control arms to get some caster back.
Oh my setup has 04 mustang cobra spindles/brakes and built the car to race.  Either I don't know what bumpsteer is or everyone makes a problem out of something that doesn't exist lol.  Must be a mustang thing

Where did you get those offset arms?

Never mind I saw the MM arms  . I didn't want to go to a coilover setup though . Does anyone make a spring cup forward offset arm?
