Which means everyone else is watching this. Because they're bored, and they have to get their daily forum fix in, and they keep coming back to see if the board is working again.

Okay, so the standings are.. the board and all of it's contens are now backed up on the new sever.. We just have to wait until the actual domain name gets transferred to the new host then after a final tweaks the board should be up and running just the way it used to, with all the information there and life will be splendid, the way it used to be.. only with one differene.. it'll be faster so all you people who need their dosage of posting will be able to post till your heart's content.

Seriously, Alex put a LOT of work into the transfer, to make sure that nothing got lost. Everyone needs to give him mad props for being the m4d h4x0r that he is. The login/password should work perfectly. All the old posts will be there. Really, the transfer couldn't have gone smoother. Well, the old host could have unlocked things sooner, but other than that, yeah....it's going to be good.

When this will take place, we can't say for sure, but it should be in the next few days. It all depends on the domain name transfer now, which is in Carm's court as we type this.

Umm, you guys do realize that teh only thing the others can see when they come to this site is "Sorry, the board is down while we switch to a new server. We hope to be back in a few days", right? It's not just that they can't post, they can't actually get in to the board.

You also realize that since this silliness started AFTER Alex backed up the database, when the domain switch actually happens and the board is online on the new forum, [SIZE="3"]there will never be any record of its existence...[/SIZE][/I][/B]

...but by all means, carry on. I find it amusing

BTW, as I told Eric in an email, I initiated the domain switchover the day I got the hosting. XLInternet is just taking forever to release the domain name to GoDaddy, but hopefully it'll happen tomorrow. Then the troubleshooting begins...

...and I suppose I should update the "closed" message...

Yeeah we realised that this won't be backed up, that's why I even suggested getting rid of all the forums and opening a bullshiznit forum to leave on XL since all the real data is already on the new host.

I suppose that could be done, perhaps closing all of the sections except the lounge, just to give people their "forum fix". If you wanna do that, go ahead - it's after bedtime for me
