1987 Brake Proportioning Valve Needed! December 17, 2004, 07:47:42 PM My '87 cougar had the brake light come on last week. It was low on fluid. I refilled it and had my friend who is a mechanic take a look at it. He said the proportioning valve was leaking. He works at home on the side and he said his napa store couldn't get it and it was a dealer item. Well I called the dealer and the car is a little too old for them to carry the part!
