starter removal, '88 3.8..

before I get mad enough to blow up my car, what would y'all recommend to get that starter out? I've got it loose, it's sitting up in there, but I can't get it out, I've though about jacking up the engine a bit, lord knows with my busted mount, it'd move enough to get the  thing out....no matter which way i twist/maneuver it, the sumbitch just won't slip through...:flame:
ah well, it's gettin dark anyway, I'll finish it tommorow..

I've always had to jack up the engine a few inches to get starter motors out.
I'm not sure if there's any other way.

yeah, had to jack it up a bit, found I have 2!! busted mounts...
I knew the one was bad, but oh well, good thing I'm not driving it right now..just had a spare V6 starter, and wanted to be able to drive it around the yard while i'm getting the 5.0 ready go in it..
On a side note, the old starter was completly torn up...it'd been making grinfding sounds for a coulpla weeks..didn't figure it'd last too much longer..

I've had to replace mine a couple of times over the last 17 years, and I think I have the procedure down by now. After you remove the wiree, take off the bracket that holds the + cable in place up near the front of then engine. Then pull all of the wires out of the way, turn the starter around so that the nose points towards the fron of the car. Lower the rear of the starter and rotate it jest before the bolt ears contact anything. It's still a tight fit, but with a little wiggling and jiggling it will drop out all of a sudden. To quote Chiltons, installation is the reverse of assembly.

If you think a Fox body starter is a pain, try doing one on an MN12 chassis!
