Should I change my TFI and ignition coil?

I'm not having any problems with my Tbird it's running fine but I'm worried about the age of my TFI and ignition coil. They are the original factory installed ones and they are 18 years old. The car runs fine with no indication they are failing but I was wondering if it would be a good idea to change them just to play it safe and avoid future problems?
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

It wouldnt hurt to keep spares around, but dont bother with replacing.

I guess I'll pick up a TFI and an ignition coil and throw them in the trunk. I'll get a Motorcraft TFI but should I get a Motorcraft ignition coil or are there better aftermarket ones?

Personally I've never even seen a cheapy autozone one fail... In a short amount of time. But If I were you I would keep a TFI and the tool to replace it in a small tool box in your car.  Coils.....I sold 1 coil to every 20 or so ignition modules the years I worked for Autozone.  I wouldn't worry about it.  They seem to be indistructable.

TFI modules indestructable? I had an advance auto one fail one me in my TC, along with many other people.

I think he meant the coil...which they do fail too, but not as often as the tfi.
I've had 2 tfi modules go bad, to one coil, don't think that's all that bad ..they were spread out over 3 Tbirds, the 89 had the coil go bad, both my 88 V6 cars had the tfi...
