Tune-up questions March 18, 2006, 09:15:36 PM I'm wondering about some tune-up tips with the 2.3 turbo motors as I'm a n00b with turbo's. It feels like my car is hesitating a little bit when I step on the gas. I'm assuming my timing is off some, but being I have back problems, I can't get down and dirty like I used to, so it kinda sucks!!!!!!! I've got new plugs, wires, just changed the oil, along with the oil filter. Didn't get a chance to throw in the plugs or wires yet. Tell me what you guys think, I need help!!! Quote Selected
Tune-up questions Reply #1 – March 19, 2006, 04:50:45 PM Umm air filter and fuel filter too depending on how long it's been since you changed those last.. Those are just some basics that you hadn't mentioned though, I don't know anything turbo specific. Quote Selected
Tune-up questions Reply #2 – March 19, 2006, 07:43:16 PM what kind of plugs and wires did you buy?Autolite 764 plugs, and motorcraft wires have been the best combo ive used. I had bosch wires on my car when i got it, they were rather new, and it hesitated a bit, motorcrafts cleared that up nicely. Quote Selected
Tune-up questions Reply #3 – March 20, 2006, 12:10:15 AM I also use the autolite 764 they seem to work great I also like the NGK's I tell you to check the TPS setting. Also you might want to get a new O2 sensor if it has been awhile. I've also had good luck with the motorcraft wires. Quote Selected

Tune-up questions Reply #6 – March 20, 2006, 03:51:35 PM Xact wires?Motorcraft is about the best bet for these. I've also had good luck with Taylors (when I had to do a custom set for the turbo Ranger).I'd return the Xact's and at least get some Motorcrafts, they're pretty inexpensive. Quote Selected
Tune-up questions Reply #7 – March 21, 2006, 12:35:39 AM I think I got them for free cause a friend of mine worked for Advanced Auto parts and just put em in my bag, so I might just go do that. Thanks guys! Quote Selected
