I think you have to replace the the gear with speedo sensor for it to work. I will look on UncoolCats to see how to make it work in our speedo cable cars.Jamesp.s. You do the same as well. FS: V8 buttstuffog instrument cluster Reply #5 – March 01, 2006, 07:02:35 PM I found out that 85-88 cars do not use a speedo cable only the 83-84 cars do BUT all of them have a vehicle speed sensor VSS. The only difference is that 83 and 84 models the speedometer cable goes through the VSS. The others just uss the VSS and no cable since the sensor gives the signal to the ECM and then gives the signal to the speedometer which works by using a little motor that is built into the speedometer itself. So to answer your question you can use this but you have to rewire a little. Look on coolcats or ask Eric and he can point you in the right direction. Oh and one more thing, you have to change your dash so any of the 85-88 clusters to work!James Quote Selected
