what have we hear? Reply #1 – January 31, 2006, 06:18:50 PM The pan hard bar is so you can ditch the upper control arm as to get rid of the bind. I want to say one of the after market company like Racer Walsh and maybe Maximum motorsports made a set. Quote Selected
what have we hear? Reply #2 – January 31, 2006, 06:42:44 PM Does a mustang panhard bar not fit a Thunderbird?Anyway you can't "ditch" the upper control arms with just a panhard bar, unless you want the axle to fall out of the car You gotta have a torque arm or Watts linkage or something along those lines, also.A panhard bar would be nice to stop the side to side movement of the rear axle though, I heard there's an excessive amount with the factory setup. what have we hear? Reply #3 – January 31, 2006, 06:47:30 PM The panhard bar only requires 3 links the lowers and the bar. If you look at most FWD cars they are setup this way. You solid mount the lower links so they only move at the torque box. Quote Selected
what have we hear? Reply #4 – January 31, 2006, 06:51:43 PM yeah, that auction cought my attention earlier. i remember hearing of "groundpounder" products. i dont know off hand if they are still in buisness or not but it would be worth trying too contact them. arent there at least a few guuys around here running a panhard bar from a stang in their car? what have we hear? Reply #5 – January 31, 2006, 06:54:40 PM I would think the mustang bar would work becasue the control arm mounts are in the same place on the axle. Quote Selected
what have we hear? Reply #6 – January 31, 2006, 06:55:25 PM you need a torque arm and a panhard rod or a watts linkage setup to ditch the uppers. either or is a no-go. the torque arm is what creates the 3-link.and yes you can use a mustang panhard rod. Quote Selected

what have we hear? Reply #9 – January 31, 2006, 07:48:34 PM You can't just ditch the upper arms.....you need someway to stabilize the rear axle in rotation...you remove the upper arms and it just falls forward (or backwards). A P-hard bar is just for lateral location. The main problem with most Mustang P-hard bars is the fact that on a Tbird the gas tank gets in the way. It will vary from manf to manf on whether it will fit or not clearance-wise. With that issue out of the way, yes they will fit. Quote Selected
what have we hear? Reply #10 – January 31, 2006, 10:04:37 PM on that note, are there any factory or good factory oem quality replacement gas tanks that will fit properly under the tbird. theres no need for the 22 gal monster thats under there realy. i can live with it but it would be nice too have something a little smaller in there sumped too the rear. not realy interested in a racing cell though.... FWD cars are set up like that because the rear end does not have to power the car, so the rear axle is not trying to rotate. In a RWD, the very moment you apply power the axle is trying to rotate upward - the axle is trying to spin backward just as hard as the wheels are trying to go forward Quote Selected
