Some of ya read about the '88 T-bird that I posted that was for sale for 400...well my bud bought it and is gonna fix 'er up...IT IS A SPORT MODEL...8.8 quad-shock and all...I was a lil upset that I myself passed it up but he'll take care of it...said he might fix it up and sell it...I hope he keeps it for good

its got quad shocks, but still a 7.5" rear with 2.73s if he's lucky tho he's got the optional 10" drums out back. thats what my car started off as, that floor shifter is way nicer than the colum IMO

My Sport had the optional 3.08's and 10" drums (until I put some 3.27's in). I think if you got the heavy duty (or "trailering") suspension option on the Sport you got the 10" drums and 3.08 gears.

The current '88 has 2.73's and open diff, but it's got the 10" drums and front/rear sway bars.

Also, there is a bid of muddiness when it comes to the 8.8" rear - officially, Ford only installed it in 87-88 TC's and the '88 XR7, but several people have reported factory 8.8's in 88 Sport models. I'm guessing they had more drum-brake 8.8's than they did XR7's to put 'em in so they installed some in Sports...

maybe the origional owners had them special ordered? iv heard some people order cars with not realy optional stuff, but stuff that was installed on similar models from dealerships, or the factory and shipped out. my sport had 10" drums, but only 2.73s

The sled has 10"drums on a 7.5 with 3.27's.  Funny thing is it has Quad shock brackets welded to the axle but the quad shock and frame bracket are missing.  I've not seen another like it.
One 88
