Aftermarket MAF?

Well since the computer i bought when i did my HO swap turned out to be a Mass air EEC instead of a SD I am looking to buy an aftermarket MAF but i cant decide if i should buy the C&L 76mm meter or the Granatelli meter? I know the C&L uses the stock electronics and the Granatelli comes with new electronics but, Is there any benefit or drawback to the new electronics or the stock electronics? I did get a stock MAF so i do have the stock electronics Thanks for any opinions or advice

Okay, I don't know of any advantage to using an aftermarket sensor compared to a factory sensor. If anybody here does, please tell. I'm still learning;) You have the right idea that a larger meter is better over factory.

I don't think I would go for the C&L unit. The engine bays in our cars are a bit different than those in mustangs so that unit may not properly bolt down. It will connect to the throttle body fine but may be at a skewed angle and may also lead to a less desired angle for the air filter. I'm using a MAC cold air intake that is for Mustangs and although it fits, every once in a while it wobbles itself loose and I get extra air sucking in which causes all sorts of strange things.

The Granatelli piece would probably be better but you could save yourself some money. It sounds like you already have the factory mass air sensor. Now you could hit the junkyard and find a factory meter from a supercharged MN12 T-Bird/Cougar. Those meters have a 70mm diameter. Pull the sensor off since those cars have 24# injectors. Then you could put your 19# sensor on that meter.
That's what I would do but doesn't mean you have to.:)

Oh, don't forget to get the wiring from the sensor to the computer. I got a Granatelli MAF conversion wire that is pre wrapped and all you have to do is plug it in, move the proper pins and your good to go. Easy set-up.

i am running a C&L 73mm with stock air boxs and have no bolting trouble at all,I swapped it out for a Pro-M that I had. The only reason I did that was cuz my pro-M was calibrated for 19# and I got a good deal on the C&L with a 24# & 30# tube. I really could not tell you if one is better then the other,I liked both.

I have a 76mm C&L you could buy if you wanted. I bought it new for 150 off ebay. It is set up for 42 lbs injectors. you would have to change the metering tube to for your fuel injectors which are most likley 19lbs injectors. The tubes are like 25$ and are very easy to change. Mine is like brand new but I needed bigger fuel injectors yet so this mass air meter will not work anymore. Just to let you know these meters sill use the original electronic sensor. Well it looks to me like the intake pipe on the picture of it installed puts the sensor pretty close to the stock position though i could be wrong but I think i will go with the C&L meter and possibly just get the meter instead of the whole kit with the intake pipe and whatnot. I dont have the stock airbox anymore so I will have to get a cold air kit or make something else work anyway. Thanks for the opinions and advice

will 1994 4.6 Crown Victoria work for a 1988 5.0 mass air conversion?
I am getting satuff ready for the conversion and have access to one.

It SHOULD work.  It may not be 70MM though.  Measure one to find out 1 inch = 25.4 mm

The C&L meters work best. They use the factory  electronic which are better tuned to the factory fuel tables.
 If you change injectors all you have to do is get another sample tube.

 I have tuned serval cars and the C&L respond much better.
