88 3.8 mass air conversion.

I was pondering the idea of converting my car to mass air. It would open up alot of tuning possability's. Maybe a computer out of a mn 12 or a taurus. I know in the mn 12's life some of them had coilpacks with a cam sensor but I dont think the taurus did. I'm off to the junkyard to check out some cars.

What about the SHO, I know those were mass air.  Get a computer outta one of those.

sho's were a completely differn't design..  a yamaha engine.

Now sticking with a 3.8 out of a mn12 or a taurus it looks like I will have to do the same things a 5.0 mass air conversion.

my '94 Taurus has mass-air...
I was kinda thinking what kinda hoot it'd be to have a mass-air V6 in an '88 'Bird...
Might have to try before I put the V8 in...

My '91 'Bird had mass air and a distributor. I think the 'Bird would make a better donor, since it's RWD so the engine harness should be somewhat similar.

my wife's 89 isnt mass air....
I'd def. use the Bird stuff, but take the top end parts off the taurus engine. (3.8, duh)
Man, that thing seems faaster than any 'bird V6 I've drove...
Taurus is junk though, engine has headgaskest out, and something serious wrong in the rear susp.

If its like converting a STOCK 5.0 to mass air, it will make the car slower...

also, to run the MN12 EEC, theres a good possibility that youll have to repin more than just a few things. The pinout is quite different on an MN12.
It's Gumby's fault.

Hmm well I wouldn't have a problem repining the entire thing.

if youre looking to do it, i can give you some ideas of some rather cheap performance things you can go too.
