Re: Are these factory rims? Reply #16 – November 18, 2004, 04:22:28 PM i actually mean on the early fox stangs, there was some sort of package on it that i could swear had those rims Quote Selected
Re: Are these factory rims? Reply #17 – November 18, 2004, 04:24:35 PM The early packages were King Cobra and the Pace Car.. don't recall seeing any other packages when I looked this up. There's an Edmunds "generations" article on the Mustang that lists a lot of that stuff.. but I don't have a link to it. Quote Selected
Re: Are these factory rims? Reply #18 – November 18, 2004, 04:34:17 PM King Cobra was a Mustang II package, the Pace car was a fox Mustang. :) Quote Selected

Re: Are these factory rims? Reply #21 – November 18, 2004, 04:43:36 PM OK, according to Edmunds:http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/generations/articles/93320/article.htmlThere was a Cobra package for '79 and '80.. it just wasn't the King Cobra name, or at least they don't specifically say King Cobra in the article. It's possible that the site selling graphics up there (the other link I provided) was erroneously tacking King onto it.The Pace Car had the TRX wheels.. don't know what the Cobra packages had. Re: Are these factory rims? Reply #22 – November 18, 2004, 04:46:12 PM Yep almost bought one of these when they were brand new. They were just called Cobra, basically rebadged Pace cars. :) Quote Selected
Re: Are these factory rims? Reply #23 – November 18, 2004, 04:50:27 PM [all-out hijack]QuoteThe most desirable of all '79 Mustangs would turn out to be the 6,000 Indy pace car replica fastbacks, which featured a unique hood scoop, unique front air dam, unique rear spoiler, black and silver paint with orange graphics and an interior blessed with genuine Recaro front seats. The pace car was available with either turbo four or V8 power and included the TRX wheel and tire package. With the Ghia trim back on the coupe and a "Cobra" package available on the hatchback (which had a fake hood scoop but no spoilers), the '79 Mustang was a hit. A healthy 369,936 Mustangs were built that model year.QuoteAll the spoilers and scoops used on the '79 pace car were now part of the '80 Cobra package, which also included a tasteless oversize cobra hood decal. In what was the worst year ever for Mustang engine performance, Ford sold 271,322 examples of the breed. In other words: Yes and no.[/all-out hijack] Quote Selected
Re: Are these factory rims? Reply #24 – November 18, 2004, 04:52:32 PM lol yea those '79 Cobras were kinda of plain, much better in '80. I've always loved those pace cars, one of the best looking 'stangs imo. :ies: Quote Selected
Re: Are these factory rims? Reply #25 – November 18, 2004, 04:56:43 PM I prefer pre-'83 Capris over Mustangs of similar age.. but that's prejudice from owning two of them. :p (an '80 4-banger and an '81 I6 w/ T-tops)That Cobra pic doesn't really help things much, does it? Wheels look aftermarket to me.. but then again, I'm not exactly an expert on wheels. Quote Selected
Re: Are these factory rims? Reply #26 – November 18, 2004, 05:03:25 PM Capris are cool, always wanted one of these too. Special "Detroit Grand Prix" edition Capri. ( the hijack is on...lol) Quote Selected
