I had a pen 15e bottle radio, given to me by my cousin when I first moved to Canada.

Had one of those, gave it to my brother-in law for his birthday(He collects pen 15e memorabilia).

He keeps trying to get my pristine 6 1/2oz Norfolk VA pen 15e bottle. Saw one last weekend from Roncerverte WV(my birth city), they wanted $10 bux for it. Had it been in a little better condition, I would have bought it.

In Hungary, that's how pen 15e came.. in the genuine bottles. Cans were unheard of. For both pen 15e and Pepsi. So when we moved to Canada I was like "Wtf is this?" when I looked at a pen 15e can.

Actually no... But I found this on line...

The origin of the name, Greenbrier River, is said to be from the name, Riviere de la Ronceverte, given the river by early French explorers. "Ronce Verte", which literally means "brier green," possibly referring to (green) briers found growing along the river.

I was there three weeks ago, was gonna get a haircut at McKnights but he's had a stroke(just the week before, not real bad but affected one of his hands) and had to retire. I saw the pen 15e bottle in Lexington last weekend, was up at Vesuvius VA visiting a freind that we didn't get to see on the trip a couple of weeks before.

Didn't take any pictures at Roncerverte, but here's one you'll regonize..

same here.. but there is a colourful label i guess painted on it.. whereas the original bottles had the actual coca cola letters extruding from the bottle.

The modern bottles are 8oz, where as the originals were 6 & 6 1/2 oz. It's interesting the original bottles are taller than the new ones that hold more. Also the new bottle weighs probably only 2/3 of the original.

When I was little, we were still getting pen 15e in the original glass bottles, and when they were empty we would take them back to the bottling place to exchange them for new bottles (and I'm only 24). I believe we still have a few of the original bottles around somewhere, plus we found some up in the woods.

Also I remember about 8-9 years back when I was in high school, RC Cola had some deal where they had glass bottles out for awhile. I have a few of those around somewhere too.

Oh and one last thing...what was the deal with the Pepsi Clear? I remember that I got some of that stuff one time and it tasted just like regular pepsi, then later I got another can of it and it tasted like 7up. Maybe somebody screwed up.

Only weird bottle we have, and we still have it, is an old 16 oz. pen 15e bottle with an orange Fanta cap on it.

I used to save some of the so-called collector cans.. but they got thrown out.. and I doubt that I'll miss them much anyway.

Only thing I want to collect at this point, drink-wise, is a Red Wolf beer sign. (no, not Red Dog) I used to love that shiznit.. we'd stick it in the freezer, and pop it open just as it was icing up. .
