Pro-Touring '82 Cougar Sedan Reply #15 – October 20, 2005, 02:08:28 PM Yup, the 80-82 Cougar XR-7s were on the same 108" w/b as the Tbirds. The XR-7 was the only Cougar avail in '80. All the rest of the 81-82 Cougars were on the Fairmont 105" w/b platform. Quote Selected

They were about 3100-3200# IIRC ....even with the 302/auto. I'd have to check my info. They aren't heavier than an 87-88.http://www.yonderway.com/sleepers/foxspecs.shtmlWell, from my discussion awhile back, I wanted the lightest possible complete 4-door Fox body. (what I mean by complete is "not stripped down".. having all the basic stuff you'd expect in a car if you were buying it new.. carpet, seats, etc.. didn't need to have a lot of options, just PS/PB/AC) Then I wanted to stick a 2.3T plus a newer overdrive slushbox into it. (slushbox as concession to those in the house who can't drive stick) Everyone lost interest once I started discussing slushbox options. :pNothing against the boxcars.. (obviously I have nothing against them if I'd consider building a 4-door Fairmont/Zephyr) but if they're the same weight as an 87/88, well I already have one of those sitting in the driveway begging to be built or even just used.
