head gasket October 06, 2005, 04:49:10 PM hi again, was wondering if there are better quality head gaskets for my 86 cougar with the 3.8...i have a small leak on the passenger side..i will also be removing the theractor pump and pulley assembly....do i just cap off the vacuum lines when i'm done? there was a thread on this, but i can't pull it up on the old but goody site...thanks for any help.. Re: head gasket Reply #1 – October 06, 2005, 05:34:48 PM pick up the more expensive of the felpro headgaskets they sell at the parts stores, they are well worth the money, and buy the head bolts while youre at itas for the thermactor/smog setup, its a matter of tracing the vacume lines back to where they originate from, and capping them off there, most of the selenoids are under your coolant resivoir Quote Selected
