Bosshiznit my car...

Not the Cougar but my new "I'm paying out my @$$" Tiburon.

Okay, so they aren't that expensive but I only work part time and my payments are high because of the whole first time buyer  and that I qualified for the car own my own, with no co-signer and little established credit. Since I'm 20 and starting out with basically nothing, I'm paying out the wazoo for this thing.

So I go outside today and look at my car. (Always helps reduce the stress of a work day.) I notice that there is a se where my blue paint came off along with a nice sharp ding about the size of a finger tip on my driver's side fender. I know this wasn't there last night because I was admiring my new drivers front wheel center cap(a story all in it's own) and I dusted the car with my California duster. I would have seen it.

This morning I backed into my usual reserved spot next to the company van which never moves. I walked outside after lunch to look over the car( which has had valve stem caps stolen off of so I always keep an eye out) and noticed the damage. I look at the van and it's pulled in where it was backed in this morning. They took thae van out to lunch today.

Angry to see my car damaged, I walked around to the passenger side of the van and sure enough on the edge of the door is blue paint.(The van is white). I measured the height of the paint on the van's door and compared it to the height of the ding on my car and it was a direct match. Whoever was in the passenger seat of the van hit my car when they left. I know the guy who was driving the van so I asked him who was in the passenger seat and told him that my car washiznit. As it turns out it was my boss.

I can't believe that he would hit my car. He's so picky and careful with his Lexus that I can't believe he would be that careless and not even tell me. You can't tell me he didn't know he did it.
Anyway, he is gone for the day so I sent him an email. I won't be in again until Friday, so I'll find out what is going to happen then.

It's frustrating because I am picky about my car and where I park and I take my personal spot at work and get hit by my boss. Now by no means is my Hyundai a Lexus but for a college kid who needed something new, pulled it off, and is paying for it, I'm  proud of myself. It  me off that other people have to damage what I work so hard for.

Well I feel a little better now. Sorry for the long post and rant.

Parking lots are a free for all warzone up here. Any accidents in a P lot is seen as 50%-50% liability for the cars involved. Hopefully for you, this isn't the case south of the border.

deffenatly take pictures proving it was the company van that did the dammage. your boss may not have to pay, but the company will. maybe sence its your boss that did it something can be worked out  depending on how much of an @ss your boss is

In michigan I believe if you were not in the car, it is the other persons fault and thier insurance is supposed to cover it completely. though I could be wrong. get pictures. get pictures NOW.

Yep getting pictures for sure.
From what I've been told, this should go through the companies insurance. If my boss tells me it wasn't the vans fault, I'll get my insurance company to investigate.
Somebody is going to pay for it and its not going to be me.

Wow, thats a difficult situation.  Hopefully your boss is a honest person and not a prick, as this thing could change the work atmosphere...

I drove a truck at my last job, and backed into a coworkers tail light one time.  As pissed as I was with myself and wishing the whole problem would go away, I still ran right into the place and told the poor guy what I did.  It was his new vehicle too.

I was more than happy to work with him to correct my flub, and he ended up being happy with me just getting a new tail light for him that he installed himself.  I'm sure the situation would have been different if I never fessed up.  Thats a bad start already.

I know another Cougar guy that has a Tiburon, must be a trend!

That's what I'm afraid of... but then again that's what the human resource dept. is for and they are just down the hall from me.

Technically, it aint a car accident.  The damage was done by a door being swung open.  That is something that is NORMALLY done when a vehicle is not in motion.  This is what is referred to as property damage and it would seem that it was caused by the inattentiveness of your boss at that particular time
