I hardly use mine either, but when you consider that I regularly travel long distances through sparsely populated areas in either a 1988 T-Bird or 1988 Dakota (both 17 years old) a cell phone is a good thing to have...

I have a prepaid phone. (TracFone) Hardly ever use it. It's for emergencies like breaking down out on the Interstate, or the occasional 1-minute call to check on plans or whatever. (or to call my friend and ask him to call the house, since the house phone can't dial his phone) Last time I got minutes, (like 200-300) they lasted around 8 months.. think it was like $90 with the 1-year activation thing. When you cash in cards for them, normally the cards keep your number active for 60 days.. but you can buy some of the more expensive cards and get 1 year of activation along with your minutes. (you also lose your number if you run out of minutes.. but I haven't done that yet.. we just shut off a phone if it hits 1 minute) The 200 minutes I got this time around (plus some special offer for a few more) were, I think, about $50. Not bad for something that may also last me 8 months.

Hey, if any of you ever consider getting one for similar use, (emergencies, etc.) let me know and I can refer you and I guess we both get extra time out of it. :p

I found some generic-looking cable on ebay with a CD included.  For $.99, but I ended up paying another $9 for "shipping, handling and insurance".  But even for $10 I couldn't pass it up.
