Low Compression on 1985 Cougar 5.0 November 12, 2004, 12:22:43 AM I've got a question that is boggling my mind, and quite frankly is g me off, I bought a 1985 Cougar a little while back and the engine makes a high pitch popping noise when running, and has low compression in the valves. Any thoughts and ways to fix would be great. Quote Selected
Re: Low Compression on 1985 Cougar 5.0 Reply #1 – November 12, 2004, 06:21:11 PM the only "POPING" noise i can remember is the poping noise the smog pump makes when a hose has come off or one of its inline pipes have broken.first place id check would be where the smog meets the exhaust and trace backwards from there.
