fuel tank door manual override

yeah, so the manual override cord for the fuel tank door in my trunk isn't attached to anything,... dont know if it came off or what..

but, i want to know where and how to re attatch it incase the power release fails.

its got the cord with the little silver end on it...
where to i hook it up?

no Idea,.... shouldnt be too hard to find, I would imagine that it would go straight to the gas door

I'll take a look in the morning. I already have the liner out from some work I was doing this weekend. I'll post tomorrow evening.

All I remember from my last wrecking yard stroll is the solenoid is remote-mounted, with a cable going to the door pin. Since you have the liner off, either reach around and push the pin, or have someone hit the button a few times to see which parts move. There should be a small hole or tab the wire used to pull on before it broke.

The nylon cable goes to the fuel door pin, yes. Sorry for the late response.

could someone possibly post a pic??? :D

ive looked everywhere and i cant figure out what the cord would hook up to...

it looks like the only moving piece is on the outer side of the tank, not the inner side where the cord is. and it's the piece that is activated by th ebutton in the glove box.

i cant find anything...
i was wondering if someone could take a pic of it where its hooked up to in their car???

or just be more specific

I'm glad this came up. My switch stopped working recently. Where is this solenoid? Right behind the switch if I'm not mistaken?

Here ya go....IIRC, once the nylon breaks from the mechanism, I don't think there's a way to reattach it.

btw.... what does iirc mean???

but yeah... there must be some way, because my nylon is not actually broken, the silver piece is still on the end of it

im jsut scared my button will fail and i wont be able to open the tank

I wouldn't think it would reattach to the mechanism either. Looks like it's a solid piece around the cable. In fact, my button doesn't work in the glove compartment and I'm relying on the cord. I have a spare and need to hook it up to see if my problem is in the control motor or the wiring or the button, etc...and Eric beat me to the pic's. I took them after I got to work tonight and have been too busy to get on-line until now.

yeah maybe you're right. its just weird though, cuz the cord is not broken. it is intact, and just looks like it has been pulled free of wherever it was supposed to be held in
