My cat is triping over its own paws.

My car has recently decided to want to buck and stumble when first taking off. And just today it started to search for idle but go so high then so low it would die. but if you put it in gear it is fine. Hmm Just wanted your opinions. KOEO and KOER show code 33. Egr code that has been there since I got the car.

Pull the IAC and try to clean it out with some carb cleaner. Free option that may help the problem.

well that egr code has to do with some of the problem. what is the full code? egr stuck open or closed? if its closed then it would cause the symptoms you have described. in that case you would have to replace it or free it up some how. when i disconnedted my egr on my car when slowing down it bucked and when gowing slow it stalled out.

33 EGR Valve Opening Not Detected (Others)

This code has been there since I got the car almost a year ago and only now is it acting up. As soon as its in gear it smooths out and doesn't search for idle.

IF the computer was opening and closing the egr vavle to see if the feedback sensor detected it I could see it acting this way. The mil light is never set though.

Edit* I've convinced myself its the feedback sensor But I don't understand why its now acting like this and wasn't before?

the EGR wont cause the problem unless its stuck open

my cars EGR is diabled, no vaspoogee lines, and it still runs good

Shawn after playing with my car a little bit I think the problem is my base idle setting. My multimeter is busted but when I buy a new one I will set it. You seem to be the pro on this and from what I remeber set it just shy of one volt?

TPS at .98 volts.

TPS works best when set at about .94-.98

what you do, start the car, let it warm up, then disconnect your IAC, once the idle settles, set your idle to whatever is recommended for you car using the set screw on your throttle body, im not sure what the 5.0 is, but i think its like 750rpms, once thats done, go ahead and set your TPS to .94-.98, and that should be good
