I'm sorry Shawn.. you should know by now I respect you, probably more than I do anyone else here. Of anyone here, I probably think of you as a friend more than anyone else. You put up with the most inane shiznit from me that the rest don't even see.. but if I didn't know you and it was you behind the wheel of that Rustang, and it was me behind the wheel of the car that guy slammed into, I'd yank you out of that Rustang and beat you within an inch of your life. I may not hot-dog it with my car, I may not show off with it, but I do value it (and the work I put into it) enough to freak the f*** out if someone damaged it like that while just showing off.

OK, so there may be cirspoogestances that the average commenter may not have taken into account. The guy is still a dumbass for letting shiznit get out of hand and wrecking. I don't care if it's his first time behind the wheel of it, I don't care if the conditions were beyond his control, I don't care about any excuse you could make for him losing control. If you're in a situation where you might lose control, and he obviously was in such a situation, you don't f'n screw around like that. You wanna blow yourself up, there are plenty of rural areas to go out and cut loose. Screwing around when other people might get involved in a way they don't want to is another story. Those other people DO have a say in it when you bring them into it.

Whenever I evaluate any situation I encounter, whether it be my own or someone else's, I TRY to put myself in the shoes of everyone involved. In this case, I have NO connection to the guy who lost control.. but I have tons of connection to the one(s) on the receiving end of his nonsense.. and I could completely see that guy getting the ass-beating of his life. I can't see him getting any real sympathy for the experience.

all I can say is: if ya got the money to buy a 300 (or more) horse car, buy some drivin' lessons if you're gonna hot rod the  thing, or else drive like grandma, I've been to more than enough funerals for people that died because some other SOB couldn't drive, and lost control...(deer notwithstanding)

Now that that's been said,  shame he tore up a Stang, hope he learned something...

I guess it helps to have a decent idea of your limits.. and either work to improve them, or avoid them.

I inherited my father's bass boat.. f'n thing was a MONSTER.. 17 1/2' Hydra Sports with a Merc Black Max 200-horse, w/ jack plate and low-water pickup and exhaust holes drilled out above the waterline. (vs. through the prop) Those I knew who were experts on boats estimated that thing had a top speed around 80 mph. Every time I would hook a hose to it to run it in the yard, traffic in the neighborhood would pick up just to see what the racket was.. and my father told me just before he died that when he would put it in the water up on the river he lived by, all the ol' rednecks with airboats with 350 Chebbies on 'em would do a double-take when he'd light that thing up. (2-stroke V6, I think it was) It was an awesome lil' hole-in-the-water. But as great as that boat was, I could never bring myself to use it because I'm really not very comfortable on the water as it is, (unless it's on a significantly bigger boat, like 30' or larger) let alone at the wheel of a death-ride. I was sad to see it go when I finally got rid of it, but I think it's very likely I'd have hurt someone if not killed them/myself/everyone in sight/etc. had I just dropped 'er in the water one day and took off like a bat out of hell.

Now this isn't to say this guy has no experience with his own car. I'm just trying to illustrate the other side of what you said and what I elaborated on in the first line. Maybe walking away from that boat wasn't the "macho" or "manly" thing for me to do, and maybe most of you would've done things entirely differently.. but I'm aware of my own limitations, and that was one I wasn't willing to push.

K, sorry for the tangent. That stuff just popped into my head and I had to get it out of there. Too much junk up there as it is. :p

Ive seen that video and its hard to watch, hate to see a 03-04 Cobra totalled.

On the other hand, I can see where this guy would be coming from. While not smart by any means, its so tempting to give the people what they want, a nice burnout. You see if this guy had not of lost it, and went into a nice controlled burnout, people would think the video is cool. So theres a fine line between cool and and "complete moron". So what defines that moment between cool and "complete moron", if its simply loosing control of a 650hp vehicle than thats not hard to do. Now I agree that many on here may say they dont care what others think about what they drive, and they may not to some extent. But deep down everyone cares a small amount, whether admit it or not, what someone thinks. You may not care what alot of people think, but there is that select few. Nows its easy to sit back and say "well I would never do that", but given the opportunity(place, people, and car) its hard to resist. Now Im not condoning what this guy did, or saying its smart(it was dumb) but lets face it guys, weve all done dumb things so can we really accuse someone else. I can relate with the guy, Ive acted stupid before and learned some lessons. But Im not gonna sit here and be a hypocrite and say Ive never done anything dumb.

Ill be the first to admit to doing dumb shiznit like reckless op Learned my lesson, dont really want to have to go through that  again. And had i won the race what would i have got, nothing. I have done some stupid shiznit.

i have done stupid shiznit but watching some of the videos on there wow there are some stupid people with way to much money just watched that skiing off the back of the firebird come on i couldnt afford to lose a car becuase of that. but there is a video in there of a 700 hp twin turbo mustang and that guy shows off but he doesnt f up

Actually, if you listen real close....this "professional driver" you speak of  missed the 2-3 shift, and hit 1st gear instead(do you hear it revving to the moon?) ....which means, an idiot driver that has no business driving daddy's cars.

Oh, I'm sure no one on this forum has ever missed a gear.  It surely mustn't be the case, lest we all be idiot drivers who crash our dad's cars all the time.

okay, you can see where that video might have a "reason" of why it got away from him (missed shift), but most of those video are just plain morons.. car surfing, and other stupid stunts. we never did shiznit like that when we were kids. what is going on.
we would race the back roads, or go fielding with someone old beat up olds, but we never tried to stand on the hood of the car WE were driving.. with no one behind the wheel raced on packed streets full of other drivers. I swear kids have too much money and too much time and not enough brians. what happened to drinking a keg in a feild with no one around and trying to get laid?
