How to take the armrest out?

Hello!
The armrest in my T-bird is faded from the sun and kinda dirty. Thought I'll take it to the shop to reupholster it, but I've no idea of how to take it out? It has a zip on the back, so there must be a way to do that. The shaft it's held by, gets on the zip way why I open it.

But basically you pop the plastic caps off the sides, take the clip off one end of the shaft, and slide it out.
