Non-working cruise control

Friday night while on my way to Pocono International Raceway, I had discovered that my cruise contro; was not working. About 1 month ago, my brakelight switch had quite working. I had replaced it with another one that I had. I had blown a fuse (i believe #1) for the brake lights, etc... What should I check? What is usually the problem?

I'll double check to see the cable and all connections are hooked up. I don't know why these would be unhooked. I have not done any work that would involve disconnecting any of these connections.

Some of the most common reasons the cruse wont work are. The cruse control motor in the driverside front fender might hae gone south. mybe some of the wireing on the coloum is bad or broken. Maybe the ring with the contacts from the sterring wheel to the  colum is worn out. Maybe there is a vac leak between the motor and the vac tree. Maybe just a fuse. never know. hope this helps

There is a vacuum switch above the brakelight switch that I had pulled out of adjustment. After I had pushed this in as far a s it would go, my cruise started working again. Evidentally this switch senses vacuum. This was the only thing that I had messed with to get the cruise working again. I don't know what this switch is called or really does. Thanks for your suggestions.

It manually vents the vacuum to the actuator, to instantly disengage cruise when you hit the brakes. Also works as a safety backup just in case the steering wheel "Off" switch doesn't work.
