2.3l and c5

Hey all. I have an 84 tbird and am considered swapping out the 3.8.  Does the 2.3l bolt up to the tranny behind my 3.8 (c5? 3 speed auto)?  I may pick up a non running 86 turbocoupe as a donor and want to do project in stages, but want to do motor first.

Thanks
Russ

302 fits, parts are cheaper and more common.

If ya wanted to do an efi swap and make a cruiser, you can get really good mileage as well. I get about 28mpg cruising highway.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

If the 86TC is an auto, just use that.

The 3.8 and 2.3 do not share bellhousing patterns.

Swapping an 86 TC to manual, from auto is pretty easy, if the TC is a manual.
