I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I'm curious about what sort of power ratings that 3.8 SN-95 T-5 can take?

Most site then as all 265ft lbs. The 99 up are stronger with a .68 od vs the 94-98 .73 od. All the 94-04 t5's used a 3.35 1st gear. Personally, I believe the 99-04's (I own a 01) are stronger then the 94-98's. I've seen people say the are a rating of 300ftlbs, but I can't find anything confirming that.

Mine ate six solid rubber motor mounts and bent and cracked a coupe of motor mount plates in the year and a half or so I drove it.

I did my swap for about $400 total.

Here's the thread, photobucket ate the pictures.

I didnt have to change the driveshaft even though everyone said it was longer. To use the 3.8 bell housing, I ended up with a f-150 clutch and flywheel which uses the larger 11" clutch and 164t flywheel.

These are available as aftermarket peices for about the same price, but I knew these parts would work and were available at any parts store.

Excellent.  I'm well versed in the 1980-1996 F series parts.  So i know all about that 11" clutch setup you speak of.

i'll look through the thread, I'm still in the planning phase, but if this works and is cheap and reliable, then it matches the car perfectly!

Well, usually I'm the guy that can break anything, and mine was still working after probably 80k miles.

Other have such luck with 4 banger stuff in 10 second cars, others blow them up stock.

With the price and availability of sn-95 transmissions though, it wouldnt bother me if mine vlew up too bad. Once everything else is done, another is only $125 or so from most any junkyard
