Drum to disc parking brake cable questions....

Looking for people who have done the TC disc rear abd parking brake cable swap..........

I did the TC suspension swap last Sunday. I finally got around to installing the parking brake cables yesterday after work. How do you adjust them?

The parking brake pedal was down, and when I pulled the release, id didn't move, but came up easily by hand. I've never messed with parking brake cables in my life. Looking for education on it.

I got them adjusted. Everything seems pretty good except for a couple of things, the back brakes are dragging just a bit, and the brakes won't lock up. Could that be because they are new brakes all around and just need to wear a bit?

Getting the alignment done Monday hopefully

I remember the anti rattle clips making the pads REALLY tight. maybe that could be an issue.

I'm doing the same thing only using an 8.8 with disks out of an S/N 95 stang. I'm also ordering parking brake cablesmeant for a TC and crossing my fingers that they will work.

In regards to the brakes not locking up, some people on other Ford forums switched from drums to disks and complained about lackluster braking also. Many install an adjustable proportioning valve from Wilwood and claim that the rear brake priority can be adjusted for more effective braking. That is what I am planning on doing.

The dragging could be caused by sticky pistons in the calipers or the floating pins binding. I take the floating pins out and lube them up with anti seize. When I bought my disk equipped 8.8, two of the pins were bound up so bad I had to work them loose with pliers.

All is well now. The car is doing great. I adjusted the brake cables, and no issues now.

I am a bit disappointed in myself for not buying zinc coated front rotors. I did on the rear. They look great. The fronts are getting minimal surface rust already around the hub. I'm going to pull the wheels and paint the hubs. No big deal. I may swap the rotors one day. For now, a little paint will be fine.
