Power seat fixing? April 07, 2011, 12:44:01 AM I noticed on my 87 today that the power seat all works except for the front tilt. It is stuck in the up position. When I work the switch or the Stalk/joystick I can here the motor running but nothing. I was vac'ing her out and did a quick look see. The motor is running and the cable from it to the little remote gear box is working I can even see the little center of the gear box thing spinning. It kinda looks like a window motor gear type setup might be inside but I didn't want to just jump right in. Anyone deal with something like this before or any fixes. My head is telling me like the window motor gear maybe those little bushings between gears finally gave it up.Thanks AgainStuckman Quote Selected
Power seat fixing? Reply #1 – April 07, 2011, 09:54:06 AM Those little cables in there are similar to speedometer cables and they sometimes bind/ break inside the sleeve, I have never had the gear box apart , though good luck Quote Selected

Power seat fixing? Reply #3 – April 12, 2011, 08:55:24 PM Well thanks for the input guys. I dug into this today. Well I say I but I had my son "12" unbolt and pull the driver seat out. I was gonna just slap on the manual seat tracks I have for the time while I fixed the power seat unit. Once we got it out of the car I noticed that the front bar the raises and lowers the front of the seat, the gear on the bar was not engaging the little motor deals gear. Not sure how that happened. I just clamped the vice grips on the bar right there were the tang that the spring clips on. Wrenched and rotated the arm so it would engage the motors gear while holding the switch to move the front of the seat down, and down she went. So all seems well so far. The rear is a little slow to move up and down but at leasts now Momma can scoot the seat up and actually reach the pedals with out using her tippy toes. Thanks again Stuckman Quote Selected
