'97 Aero Cat

Super clean, low mileage '97......not mine, considering going to look at it, though.

Any of you guys know if you can make that 4.6 sound throaty in these things??  Wheel options?

My search for a decent '88 keeps stalling, and this one popped up.....hmmm.....??

You're gonna have to cut off the rear cat/Y-pipe(it's after the rear O2 so won't cause a CEL), and either run new pipes to the back or remove all the resonators and put some good lers on to get any volume from that system.  I had a 94 4.6 Tbird and I took everything off except the rear cat.  Even with no lers it was super quiet.  That was before I found this kit: http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com/products/92-97-mercury-cougar-dual-exhaust-tubing-with-crossover.html

Once I finalize my plans for my Mark VIII, I'll be getting that system.

As for wheels, you'll be limited.  It's an odd pattern that only the Tbird, Cougar, and Marks had.  You could do a hub swap, using SN-95/New Edge front wheel bearings and 03/04 Cobra rear hubs, which require a press to install.  After a hub swap though, you'll have a ton a choices in wheels.  Again, I plan on doing that to my Mark, but I bought it with sub-20 mile tires.

I love these cars.  I regretted selling my 94.  They are quiet, comfortable, have decent power, and handle pretty well.  I got the itch after going to Ford Nationals, I looked into Marks, and sold my Subaru for my 98, couldn't be happier about it, even though I lose my winter driver.  I don't think you'll be disappointed if you pull the trigger.

The most common things on these cars you will be working on will be the lower door hinges, window motors, upper ball joints, and a few other little things.

Actually, any wheels from the '12-Current Ford Focus, '13-Current Fusion, '12-Current Ecape, and '12-Current Transit Connect will fit. Also, some Volvo wheels are available, as well. There's a lot available

Ahh...did not know that.  Probably because those cars didn't exist when I sold my 94 haha.  I hadn't heard of anybody using those on a Mark either since I've gotten mine and was looking for wheel choices for it.  Must not be popular with the Mark guys.

yep. Any wheel with a 5 X 108 bolt pattern will work :-)

*edit - Jaguars, Lincoln LS, some Land Rover, and some Volvo wheels, for example
