py plastic chrome trim July 19, 2005, 01:49:30 PM On my 88LS I have that stupid chrome strip that runs in the middle of the black border that surrounds the car. In more than a few spots the outer lining of the "chrome" has come undone and now underneath it, it has become nasty and not very chrome looking anymore. I was wondering if there was an easy way to take that stuff off and put on some el cheapo chrome trim that would look descent, or would it look better if it were preped and painted over to match the black of the trim? Re: py plastic chrome trim Reply #2 – July 19, 2005, 11:41:00 PM I sent them a message a few weeks ago, and can't get a reply. I have also asked around to see if anyone has tried the trim he sells to have a testimonial, but haven't had a response there either. The 'chrome' trim will come off the black trim, just attached with either glue or tape (not real sure which). It will require some elbow grease to clean it up before replacing it. Quote Selected
Re: py plastic chrome trim Reply #3 – July 20, 2005, 12:07:06 AM on my TC, it doesnt appear that it will come off of the side molding, but the bumper covers shouldnt be an issue Quote Selected
Re: py plastic chrome trim Reply #4 – July 20, 2005, 08:34:47 AM Yes, you can pull them off, most auto parts stores sell trim that although not an exact match, is close enough to use. It comes with the molding tape on it already and you just stick it on after you clean the area from which you have removed the old chrome molding. Or, if you want, you can sand and paint it any color you like. Quote Selected
