A/C dilemma on an '86 XR-7 Turbo Cougar July 26, 2016, 04:03:30 PM My mechanic and I are having a MAJOR dilemma in trying to get my A/C working again on my 1986 Mercury Cougar 2.3L turbo. You can't rebuild them - part of the reason for unavailability. Pretty sure there used to be a conversion kit for it (new compressor, compressor mount, and hoses) that ran $500-700. Not sure how easy they are to get now.Also, some later 2.3 Fords used different compressors. Don't know the feasibility for swapping one of them on. Quote Selected
