Just a suggestion here but I think with an '83 car you would be miles ahead to use a Painless harness to do the injection on this car.  I converted my '83 over to carbed and pretty much just deleted all the injection (CFI) wiring and everything else works fine.  The Mustang harness is going to require some splicing and what not and its an old harness that can lead to issues down the road with it being brittle.  The Painless harness is plug and play, stand alone, and new which are all wins if you ask me.

I also converted my 93 Coupe from a 4 cylinder to an injected 331 using stock harnesses and it was a mofookie getting all of the kinks out due to a couple of broken wires.

The wiring is no problem for me. I have done tons of efi conversions over the years.
