Fox Mustang vs Fox Cougar/Thunderbird quad shock axle bracket.

Is the axle bracket that the quad shocks bolt to any different between the Mustang and Cougar/Thunderbird axle? I thought I read somewhere that the Cougar/Thunderbird bracket is approx 2" taller. The reason I ask is ,I did the 7.5 to 8" swap using a Mustang rear along with the frame brackets for the quad shocks years ago and just wondering. In all reality, if there is a difference, the car is lowered approx 1 1/2" so it shouldn't make a difference.  :dunno:

I know guys run  mustang axles with quad shocks all the time. I don't think there is anything different.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

The bracket on the rear ends are the same, on the subframe of the cars themselves, they ARE different.

Yep, as Beau said, they are different for the chassis mounts. I had bought a set of Stang mounts years ago planning on installing quad shocks.....nope. Had to search for the chassis mounts. Back then, parts were a LOT easier to find.

They are different but if you are concerned with performance the best thing to do it unbolt them and toss them in the recycle bin.  The quad shocks are a band aid for the poor control arm design on these cars.  Put a good set of control arms on the car and the need for them is eliminated.  Now if you are trying to keep the car stock then I completely understand keeping them.

I've got a set of bird/cougar shock mounts, with shocks if needed for sale.
