Hello from Georgia! February 14, 2016, 10:39:28 AM Prospective Turbo-Coupe owner here. I have always liked these cars especially in the 1983-1986 form and hope to own one soon. I honestly have never even SEEN a 1983-1986 in person. I hope to soon change that by possibly meeting up with someone, on this site, who is in the Atlanta area so I can see what these are all about. I'd buy you lunch and we can talk cars.I've had a 1995 Super-Coupe 5-Speed my senior year of high-school in 2013 (very fun)Daily is a 1995 BMW 325isWeekend car is a 1985 BMW 325e (on it's second engine because a mouse found its way between the cam and timing belt...)Current father/son project is a 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII 5-speed swapI feel like a Turbo Coupe is the next step, thanks for taking the time to read! Hello from Georgia! Reply #4 – February 15, 2016, 02:07:45 PM If you stick to the 83-86 cars, mechanically there is not much to look out for. The a4ld auto trans is not a very stout peice, but almost all t-5 parts swap with a mustang, so parts are relatively cheap and available.Here is a buyers guide for 83-88 cougars, a sister car to the Thunderbird. They are mechanically identicle but have a few body differences, mostly lights grills ect.http://www.coolcats.net/welcome/buyersguide.htmlThe 83-86 cougar is almost identical to the 83-86 birds and you may want to include them in the search. For the 86 up 302, almost any engine modification you can do with a mustang 302 can be done to the same cougar bird v-8, just an FYI.Play around on coolcats website, it is very complete and full of information and fun to veiw content.
