Exhaust 3inch to 2.5 questions

I have an 83 thunderbird turbo coupe, right now it has a 3inch exhaust that comes out the side right behind the door, I was wondering if a 3 inch pipe to a Y pipe with 2.5inch duals out the back would flow any differntly?

From what I've read the full 3" exhaust flows better but unless you running a ton of HP it's not a noticeable restriction doing the 3" to dual 2.5"
I'm running full 3" just for the ease of it, if I was to do it all again I would go with the dual pipes

That setup will not flow as well as what you have, but it will still flow very good.  What are you trying to do, or your wanting to change from you current setup????

My main concern is the ground clearance, the roads around where I live are not the best so I'm just looking at options to get it off the ground a little more

Mine is ran right before the rear axle with a dynomax straight through ler, no tailpipes

Ground clearance is not an issue if it's mounted correctly, it should all tuck into the stock location

Mine comes out right behind the driver side door so it hangs a little low away from touching the body

If you don't want any clearance issues I would run it all the way to the back or before the rear axle
Stinger performance should have every thing you need

Yeah that's the site I was looking at and they have a 3inch that splits into 2 2.5inch pipes but I wasn't sure if that would hurt my air flow
