chime module

has anyone figured out what part on the chime module goes bad when you get the point you cant hear the chime anymore?

over the past couple years mine has gotten lower and lower to the point now its gotta be dead quiet before you can barely even detect the audible notificaiton.

in my white coug, simply replacing the chme module fixed the issue,, its a pertty simple board but wanted to ask here before i look closer.

if its just the speaker,, thats fine, something radio shack wise can fix it.

My warning chime module is also dead. I wasn't able to find a problem, even my other friends - electrical engineers - weren't. So what's the solution? Find another one. I grabbed one from Ford Scorpio. It has plenty other functions which may be usefull in the future, for example a power saving mode.

Mine was bad and I just popped the unit apart and the foam surround was bad. Used a rubber band of the same size and snapped it back together. Been working for several years that way. Hope this helps.

Yep, the foam disintegrates over time. Very common on 80s and 90s Fords. The module is also what makes the "beeps" with the base and full digital clusters. Btw, the module in my 86 works like new, go figure!
