Is my car a real èlan?

My '85 T-Bird has the èlan emblem on the decklid, but not on the lower bodyside trim. The only exterior options are alloy wheels, wide body side molding, pass. side mirror, and the luggage rack on the decklid. Inside it has power mirrors and windows, A/C, rear window defrost, and full console.
It has the base radio, base climate control, base seats, no cruise, no power locks, and 2 speed wipers.
I was told back when I bought the car that it was a Ford "program" car for 3 years. Could that be why it has the èlan name, but not many of the èlan options?

Door panels & seats are usually the giveaway.

Mine has basic cloth bucket seats and vinyl/cloth door panels. I bought it from the guy that bought it when Ford retired it as a program car in '88. He had it from the spring of '88 to fall of this year. Could he have put an èlan emblem of the trunk at some point?
Also, is there any way of telling based on the VIN?

Can not tell from the VIN or data plate. The only way to know is to order the Marti report.

Wouldnt the buck tag under the hood tell you?

I don't think so? Do you have a picture of the buck tag? FoxChassis is an expert in this area, maybe if you chant 'foxchassis' three times he will appear. :-)

Check under them rear back seats, you may find what I found under my "85 Tbird back seat.
