Making assumptions and diagnosis off a questionable instrument like a vacuum gauge is not what most would consider a good thing to do.  Can you get a known vacuum gauge from one of the parts stores in your area as a loaner?

So the conclusion is: the vacuum line on the MAP sensor is leaking. The hose is cracked and I could put my finger over it and hear the leak hissing. Looks like she'll be getting a fresh vacuum hose soon! Thanks for your help everyone! Much appreciated and I learned a lot!
