Progress on the 86 I just picked up...so far

Where should I start? Well like I told you guys, it has a major gas leak, by the tank, but only if it's running. I got a new battery ion it, and a new window motor on the DS, the motor was completely dead, but it was not the original one. PS has original motor, but just needs new bushings. PS power lock solenoid is missing, wonder what the story on that is? A/C doesn't work, found out compressor was replaced, but the hook ups on the back of it don't match the hoses, someone got the wrong compressor, the original is in the trunk but looks like it needs a new clutch on it.  On the plus side, only 104K, engine sounds great, tranny shifts great, brakes liens are all new, rear tires are great, but fronts are done for. that's all i can think of right now. boy, it's nice to have all the creature comforts my 85 Cougar didn't, even if that had the V8 (it had a vacuum leak somewhere I never got around to pinpointing) BTW, the air filter housing  was full of oil, it's all in the TB too, what is that, bad PCV valve?

Was that a common issue on these?

Don't know if it's common, but i had the same thing going on on my 87 t-bird and when i dropped the tank, the top of my fuel pump housing looked like rusted tin foil; i was shocked any fuel made it to the motor at all.....
How fast is fast?

I just came up with a solution to the a/c issue: the compressor on my Ranger looks like it is the same one used on the T-Bird. Since it's a 2.3 with all of 90hp, AND it has a belt all to itself, I can just take it off of the Ranger and put it on the T-Bird. Saves me the $200 that a new compressor would cost, all I'd have to get is some O rings and a couple cans of refrigerant.
