My Gettysburg Boy Scout trip

Last weekend we did a 4 day camping trip and 7 mile hike around the battlefield.  It was a sobering reminder that freedom isn't free.  I am still absorbing the cost of that battle.......nearly 8,000 men killed in 3 days of hard fighting.  For those who have not seen or experienced this place, it is a true national treasure.  It is the most amazing, well kept place run by our government that i have ever seen.  Here are some photos.....

Went there when I was a teenager on family vacation (1994-ish).  It was awesome then and as a history buff, I'm sure I'd appreciate it even more as an adult.  Great pictures!

Gettysburg is an excellent destination for a Boy Scout trip. Looks like you had great weather for it. I live about an hour from Gettysburg and need to go through the battlefield tour again as it has been a number of years since I have done so. It is sobering what took place there.
