headlights.... the never ending quest.....

has anyone found any style lights that would retro fit the turbo coupes from other brand cars? I seen the projector headlights a member did and also the one link to the BMW style lights the one guy did on his couger. but has anyone found anything that is close to the TC birds to even attempt a retro fit? soon there will be no more OEM lights for the front available and we will have to do something for sure then.....

anyway, post up any ideas or thoughts

Id just throw a 4x6 and sink it inside like the svo's did. i was never a fan of plastic headlights.

my 87 will be a 83-86 front end when i get around to it

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Projector lighting is the shiznit.  You'll always have your housings, but the interior and exterior finishes may fail.  Opening the housing to retrofit a projector is reasonably easy on our cars, the hard part is the housing lens.  For projectors, your outer lens has to be clear.  You can make a set like TBirdX3, or you can grind down the diffusions like I did.  It's hard to make new ones, and it's hard to grind and polish the originals, but the new ones will look better, as originals tend to hide thermo-micro-cracks from years or use that stay hidden until you make them clear.

I agree. Is he still making the clear lenses?  I posted in the thread a while back but haven't check it lately.

I seen where a few have tried the chrome tape, but has anyone tried the chrome "wrap"  vinyl stuff that can be stretched with a bit of heat? and my other idea is to graft a "good" reflector from a different headlight into ours and with some tpuppies it could look close to oem?  thinking out loud here.....seems everything else has been tried...

I used chrome spray paint once, helped out a good bit at the time, but it really doesn't last long... fades out and turns gray, no better off than when you started

I think the only good way is to get the housings re-chromed.

what kills vinyl wraps and similar things are the uv's. i use many different types of wraps on my model airplanes. if left exposed to sun they fade and deteriorate quickly.
