Door Panel Armrest Repair

I have been wanting to repair the broken tab for the arm rest on my T-Bird for a while now. I finally took the time to figure how I wanted to do it. If you look at the photos I posted you will see the bracket I fabricated out of .035" sheet metal. Also in the photo is the nylon spacer I purchased from a local hardware store which carries an huge variety of hardware. The nylon spacer is 1/2" long and is a perfect length to fill the gap between the bracket I made and the door itself. I pop riveted the bracket to the plastic arm rest panel on the door panel with 1/8" rivets. It took a little time to line-up the bracket to drill the hole for the screw which holds it to the door as it was not centered in the hole in the door panel. I hope this helps others who may want to repair the arm rest tab that is broken on their Bird or Cougar. I am sure this is a typical issue as the plastic gets brittle.
