87/88 Owners Thunderbird/Cougar How many still have this cover in the engine bay?

I was missing mine, and located another recently.  There appears to be more to the cover than just the plastic cover that hides the coil, which is the part i just located.  I think this was a case of service dept techs just tossing them in the trash as useless and in the way?  You almost never see them in cars.  Anyone else have the complete cover as shown in this photo?  (The area just below the washer fluid fill area)

When I bought it several years ago it was only $20.
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

The silver cougar I used to own had one hanging out in the spare tire well of the trunk. :hick: so I stuck that one on the red car!

Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...

Any pics of that one?  I am scratching my head on this one, as i think there might have been 2 different ones made.

There were two different styles: the longer one shown in your photo above, and a shorter one that just covers the coil. That latter one seems to be found on a turbo-4 engine.

Eric, i own the shorter one, the longer one seems to be the same as Mustang also.  Are they both correct fit for the 87/88?

Longer one is just like the Mustang, yes.
I am unsure of the years for the turbo-4 style cover.

At first I thought you were talking about the distributor boot, but then I read the rest of the post. My Ranger has a soft flappy thing over the coil.
Current: 1986 Thunderbird, 105k 3.8/C5, 2 tone  Midnight Wine/Medium Taupe, wing windows, wire wheel covers.


Former: 1985 Cougar GS 115k Oxford White/Regatta Blue, 5.0, full console, 14" 8 hole aluminum T-Bird rims, Edelbrock valve covers.

I just Googled 88 Mustang 5.0, and quite a few had that cover.

I have one of each. The shorter one is on the car now.
